The city of Covington, just across the Ohio River from Cincy, is a great place to visit, live, work, and play! Offering lovely architecture and a slice of history matched with great entertainment, shopping, drinking, and dining. Covington has much to offer —maybe even your next home!
Roebling Point
Do you know there’s a bridge between Covington and Brooklyn? Not a literal bridge between the two neighborhoods —but bridges are the connection! The John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge, built in the 1850s and ’60s, was the longest suspension bridge at the time of its opening in 1866.Twenty years later, architect Roebling completed what became his most famous project: the Brooklyn Bridge!
Roebling Point is a prime stop for tourists. The riverfront is lined with hotels, and it’s the site of the Northern Kentucky Convention Center and many great restaurants and bars. It’s also a great place to live! This dense, urban neighborhood has undergone renewal in the past 15 years. If you are looking for a condo with all the amenities within walking distance, this might be the neighborhood for you!
Mainstrasse Village
Mainstrasse is an easy walk from the riverfront. This beautiful neighborhood is a nationally registered Historic District, because it’s home to one of the densest collections of 19th-century architecture in the U.S. It was originally a thriving German American community and remains the home of Carroll Chimes Bell Tower and its working glockenspiel of the Pied Piper! Today, it's home to lots of unique shops, plus great restaurants and bars. While this district is also urban, Mainstrasse is the place to look if you are in the market for a home.
The Madison District
The Madison District centers on Madison Avenue, which stretches south from the Ohio River through downtown Covington. This neighborhood is home to the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, a Catholic cathedral modeled on Notre Dame in Paris. The interior is stunning! The neighborhood is also home to the Madison Theater, a fantastic music venue, and like Mainstrasse, has great dining and shopping. To the east and the west of Madison Avenue are diverse neighborhoods undergoing a revitalization —a great opportunity for home buyers!
